The Amphitheater

at Hurricane Shoals Park was built in by a group of volunteers consisting primarily of retired citizens and was completed in 1985. All labor was volunteer and all materials and monies were donated.

The amphitheater was host to the play “Inheritance of the Heart” in 1986, 1987, and 1988.

In 1989, it was host to a new play entitled: “Accidental Quest: The Crawford W. Long Story” about Dr. Crawford W. Long’s discovery of ether as an anesthetic, the operation having been performed in Jefferson, Jackson County, Georgia in 1842.

The Tumbling Waters Society is interested in upgrading the amphitheater. If you would be interested in donating time, money, or material please contact Keith Ariail at (706) 654-7133.
